How to Record Screen in Chrome OS without Any Extension

Luckily, Chrome OS comes with a built-in tool for recording the screen, so no extra tool or extension is required.

Here’s how to record screen in Chrome OS using its built-in feature:

Using Keyboard Shortcut

Step 1: Open Chrome OS snipping tool by pressing “Shift + Control + Show Windows” key on your keyboard.

Show windows key is normally 5th key to the right at function row (1st row) on Chromebook keyboard.

Step 2: A snipping tool menu will appear at the bottom of the screen, above the dock. Select “Screen record” option.

Step 3: Now you will have option to record full screen, partial screen or record a window. Select your option and the screen recording will be started

To stop the recording, click “Stop recording” icon at bottom right of the snipping tool menu.

Using Cursor

So for if you are unable to use keyboard shortcut to record screen in Chrome OS, you can still do so using only the cursor

Step 1: Click on the “Clock” icon which will be present at the bottom right corner of screen.

Step 2: Click on the “top arrow” to expand the menu.

Step 3: Once menu is expanded, you will see option “Screen capture”. Click on that to open snipping tool.
