A lot of us have faced the need of having to capture a screenshot as it can serve a lot of purposes. Capturing a screenshot can have a lot of benefits – saving a document or a receipt as a proof, or you might want to send it to someone.

We have mentioned two ways through which you can capture a screenshot in Windows without having to install any additional program.

Using Microsoft Paint:

This is an old school method for capturing screenshots on Windows OS. For this purpose, look for the ‘prt sc’ button, towards the upper right side of your keyboard. Press it or if you only want to capture the opened window on your screen, then press ‘Alt+prt sc’ in succession. Now open Microsoft Paint and press ‘CTRL+V’ simultaneously. Your screenshot will appear here. Save the file in ‘JPEG’ format.

Snipping Tool:

Snipping Tool is Windows in-built program that lets you achieve the task of capturing screenshots with ease. It also provides options to the users to crop the screenshot to their liking. It is a very convenient tool. Here’s how you can use it to capture a screenshot:

  • Go to Start menu and type ‘Snipping Tool’ and run it.
  • Click on ‘New’ and then select the area that you want to capture. You can also add text to this screenshot.
  • Save your screenshot.
